3 to 4 scoops on those high intensity days. If you doing any long-form or endurance training you’ll be looking for those extra electrolyte above the daily norm. For us “burning energy equals electrolytes” – this our way to know when we likely need to have a scoop.

The science touts that it closely mimics the electrolyte balance found in our blood which makes it an ideal drink to hydrate. We get it – youngsters don’t always let you know when they’re running low on energy or fluids. Some signs to watch for include fatigue, moodiness, muscle cramps, or headaches and constipation – especially after sports or active play. If they’re unusually thirsty or seem a bit off, they might just need a hydration boost. Adding electrolytes can help them bounce back quickly and keep up with their active day.
Electrolytes are essential minerals (a.k.a. salts) – like sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus – that help regulate hundreds of key functions in your body. They maintain proper fluid balance, support muscle contractions, transmit nerve signals, and keep your energy levels steady. Without enough electrolytes, your body might struggle to stay hydrated, and you could experience fatigue, cramps, or even dizziness.
Hydration isn’t just about water – it’s about salts and water, in a balance. When you drink water, your body relies on electrolytes to help absorb it and ensure it gets to the cells that need it most. Without electrolytes, your body may lose water quickly, especially if you’re sweating, exercising, or dehydrated. Drinking water combined with electrolytes ensures proper hydration and keeps your energy levels up throughout the day.
No, electrolytes aren’t just for athletes or sweaty workouts. Everyday activities of a busy lifestyle can lead to gradual dehydration. Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, or brain fog. Adding electrolytes to your routine helps you stay hydrated and energised, whether you’re training for a marathon or just getting through a busy day.
When you exercise, your body loses electrolytes through sweat, especially sodium and potassium. Replenishing these lost electrolytes helps prevent cramps, improves endurance, and aids recovery by keeping your muscles and nerves functioning properly. Whether you’re running, lifting weights, or doing yoga, electrolytes can help you perform at your best and recover faster.
Absolutely! Electrolytes are essential for everyone, not just athletes. They can help combat the afternoon energy dip, improve focus, and prevent the mild dehydration many people face from coffee, alcohol, or simply not drinking enough fluids. By adding electrolytes to your daily hydration, you support better energy, focus, and overall well-being.

Yes, Kokee is an excellent choice for those following a low-carb or keto diet. Electrolyte balance is crucial for these diets, as reduced carbohydrate intake can lead to increased water and electrolyte loss. Each scoop of Kokee contains only 3 calories – similar to a cup of coffee – making it a great way to avoid breaking a fast while replenishing essential electrolytes like sodium, magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Kokee can help prevent common keto side effects, such as fatigue, muscle cramps, and the “keto flu,” while supporting energy and performance
This is a big topic with many different view-points, protocols and opinions but it’s one we’re quite big on. Kokee has an ultra-low calorie content of 3 per scoop, akin to that of a cup of coffee, which a big part of the fasting community permit during a fast. The coconut water powder we source has an ultra-low natural sugar and high natural electrolyte content – this is where the 3 calories come from. Diluted into a large glass of water and sipped over a short period should not break a fast and is something we are personally comfortable with for regular intermittent fasting. (We’ve done the expensive glucose monitoring exercise!)
For those looking to be extra cautious with breaking a fast, you can make a more diluted mix by combining 1 scoop with 500–600ml of water. For strict water only fasts or those targeting autophagy a raw salt only mix may be preferred.
