“More salt?”
Sounds counter‑intuitive - until you understand how hydration works.
Sodium helps your body hold onto fluid, move it where it’s needed, and fire muscles and nerves efficiently. Low sodium can look like 🧠 brain fog, ⚡ cramps, 💦 peeing a lot but still feeling thirsty, or feeling flat after heat, saunas or workouts.
Modern diets can swing both ways: lots of processed food (too much sodium) or ultra‑“clean” eating that’s very low in salt. If you mostly eat whole foods, sweat regularly, drink lots of water, or live somewhere hot, you may actually need more sodium than you think. (If you have a medical condition that requires sodium restriction, follow your clinician’s advice.)
Why Kokee leads with salt - without overdoing it
Hydration starts with sodium, but balance matters. Some formulas push 1,000 mg+ sodium per serving - great for ultra‑endurance and if you're sweating it out, not ideal for everyday life. Kokee uses unrefined Himalayan pink salt as our main sodium source and pairs it with higher dose of potassium (key to sodium balance) and magnesium to support hydration, muscle function and mental wellbeing. Check out our article "Why high sodium + low potassium isn’t ideal for everyone" for more on on the sodium potassium relationship if you're interested. Super useful if you have a blood pressure condition.
So don't fear the salt! Unless you have doctor's orders of course. Salt is what we reach for first every morning with our scoop of Kokee to switch our entire body and mind on!
Proudly salty, but thoughtfully balanced.
That’s how water stops running through you - and starts working for you. Don't skip salt just cos you heard it's bad! But you also don't need to over do it unless you really overdoing it!
