I love the taste of the Strawberry Naartjie electrolytes. This is a product I take on a daily basis and love that it is adaptable to what you need on the day. I also love the packaging size - this would be perfect size to take for a multi-day hike or even keep in your handbag, it is so nice and compact. It is also good value for money.

When should I take kokee.?

The Everyday Electrolyte Mix name did not happen by chance, let’s unpack it a bit! kokee. is made to be used anytime during the day or night, and especially when you are exerting yourself physically or are in hot climates.

First thing in the morning, before your caffeine and 30 minutes before (or after) a workout are some of the most ideal times to get a scoop in.

When the 3pm dip lurks and anytime in the evening are also ideal times to replenish salts and elevate our hydration levels and perk up. Those with a sweet tooth, try switch out that sugary soft drink for a few days and see how your body thanks you!

How much kokee. can I drink per day?

This one is specific to you. Always listen to your body. Each of us is different but there are some principles to keep in mind that make it easy:
1 scoop in a glass or medium bottle of water (350-500ml) is a good daily protocol as a base line. If you’re doing this, plus a healthy diet and more water throughout the day, then your hydration protocol is likely at 80% (a good mark!).

2 scoops however you like (morning & afternoon, or in a big water bottle) during the day is ideal if you’re on-the-go and getting some moderate intensity exercise in. Most of our inner circle are around here on average.

3 to 4 scoops on those high intensity days. If you doing any long-form or endurance training you’ll be looking for those extra electrolyte above the daily norm.
For us “burning energy equals electrolytes” – this our way to know when we likely need to have a scoop.

Coconut water powder. Why is it a building block of kokee.?

So this is where the name “kokee” originates from..“Coconut and electrolytes”..mix the words around in four different tropical languages and you get “kokee”. The science touts that it closely mimics the electrolyte balance found in our blood which makes it an ideal drink to hydrate. It is packed with naturally occurring potassium, sodium, phosphorus and other trace minerals that are easily absorbed and gentle on the gut. Our pure love for all things natural is why this is foundational to our kokee. formula.

Bamboo powder. What and why is this in the formula?
Bambo powder brings in high naturally occurring silica which has the useful function to keep the mix flowing smoothly. The added benefits of bamboo powder, through it’s high (70%) silica content, is that it can boost collagen production (that’s why you’ll see it in some hair care formulas) and some studies are show it improves the uptake of calcium and vitamin D. For us, this is well worth including in The Everyday Electrolyte Mix formula.
Himalayan pinks salt. Why do we use this vs table salt?

Himalayan pink salt is a minimally processed natural source of sodium and contains 78 trace minerals that are essential for overall well-being. Unlike regular table salt, which is often heavily processed and stripped of minerals, Himalayan pink salt retains its natural mineral composition. It not only supports electrolyte balance but also complements the clean and natural foundations of kokee. Luckily for us its mild, mineral-rich flavour also works well in our formula.

Can the kids drink kokee.?

Yes! But even better we have the kokee. Rookee range, a mix just for them. Think of it as kokee. Lite. As a parent, you’ll thank us because now you have 2 extra flavours you can tuck into as well. kokee. Rookee is made for ages 4+.

Why do kids & teens need electrolytes?

Just like us, our youngsters need electrolytes during the day. If they are particularly active, playing sports, or spending time outdoors in warm weather where they can lose fluids through sweat. Even mild dehydration can affect their energy, focus, and mood, so ensuring they replenish what’s lost can help them function at their best.

Is kokee. Rookee only for sport?

kokee. Rookee is ideal for when our youngsters are burning energy on the sport field and is a great hydration drink choice that does not have added sugar and artificial additives most sports drinks have. However, it was made the everyday – and just a scoop a day will help support their wellbeing, and 2-3 scoops for the high action days.

Why is kokee. Rookee ideal for kids and teens?
Our formula is kept natural where it matters most, so it’s free from those artificial additives found in many drink products. The Rookee Mineral Mix is a balanced blend of salts designed to help replenish the salts active youngsters lose in a busy day. What are some common signs that my Rookee might not be getting enough electrolytes?
We get it – youngsters don’t always let you know when they’re running low on energy or fluids. Some signs to watch for include fatigue, moodiness, muscle cramps, or headaches and constipation – especially after sports or active play. If they’re unusually thirsty or seem a bit off, they might just need a hydration boost. Adding electrolytes can help them bounce back quickly and keep up with their active day.
Is it safe to take kokee. during pregnancy?

Yes, kokee. is safe for normal and healthy pregnancies. Staying hydrated is crucial for both mom and baby. Electrolytes like magnesium and calcium are especially important during pregnancy and can help reduce common pregnancy symptoms like fatigue, swelling, and dehydration caused by morning sickness. We always suggest starting off slowly with any new supplement, so if you are new to electrolyte supplementing. Try start with 1 scoop a day and gradually move to 2-3 scoops throughout the day as you need (e.g. active versus non-active days). If you have a sensitive stomach, try dilute your mix well to ensure its extra easy on the digestive system or avoid drinking it on an empty stomach. Can I take kokee. while doing intermittent fasting?

This is a big topic with many different view-points, protocols and opinions but it’s one we’re quite big on. kokee. has an ultra-low calorie content of 3 per scoop, akin to that of a cup of coffee, which a big part of the fasting community permit during a fast. The coconut water powder we source has an ultra-low natural sugar and high natural electrolyte content – this is where the 3 calories come from. Diluted into a large glass of water and sipped over a short period should not break a fast and is something we are personally comfortable with for regular intermittent fasting. (We’ve done the expensive glucose monitoring exercise!)

For those looking to be extra cautious with breaking a fast, you can make a more diluted mix by combining 1 scoop with 500–600ml of water. For strict water only fasts or those targeting autophagy a raw salt only mix may be preferred.
